Should I hit the tanning salons or go with a self-tanning lotion?

I am pretty pale with redish/pinkish undertones. I am looking into the self tanners at walgreens but I really dont want to turn orange or have a mess. Tanning is relazing but I am sometimes just to lazy to get up and go.It takes me a while to tan and i never get that deep dark brown like i want. I DONT want to look orange and i do want to look natural!

Advice please!! Thanks!Should I hit the tanning salons or go with a self-tanning lotion?
(i apologize ahead for this being so freaking long)

okay of course i'm going to tell you to go to a tanning salon because i work at one, but i'll give you my reasons as to why also haha.

you'll always hear stuff about skin cancer blah blah, which it's true, tanning does put you at risk for cancer, but there is a smart way to tan.

try to find high powered (with high pressured lamps) beds. you may think the higher pressured beds are going to hurt your skin more but they actually help. you do not have to go in them as much (depending on the bed 1-3 times a week or for certain beds 2-3 times a month...which is good if you're too lazy to go tan a lot!) verses the low pressured beds where you need to go 3-5 times a week to maintain your tan. also the higher pressured beds have a lower burn ratio..(the salon i work at has the ergoline open sun 1050 and it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to burn..i promise you even when i'm the palest of all pale i never burn in the bed! it's amazing)

also if you are pretty pale, try using a lotion while you tan! lotion not only maximizes your tan but it prepares your skin for UV rays and keeps it moisturized as well. try one with a heat activated bronzer to give you a darker tan! (you won't look orange). also another option to help your skin is the mystic tan. before you completely rule this option out let me explain it..

yes the mystic can mess up sometimes, but if you keep your skin hydrated and healthy it will work fine. and it isn't orange. tanning in a bed and then tanning in the spray on mystic booth really looks good (i do it myself all the time). don't overdo the mystic though, tan in it once to twice a week. (if you do use the mystic booth and tan in a bed with lotion..make sure your lotion does NOT have a bronzer...this can cause streaking!) the mystic booth also has different levels of tanning (color) so try starting out with a level one to test it, then try a level 2 (level two has more bronzer giving you a darker color). and honestly i've tried a level three mystic..and it wasn't that great..it was just obviously fake, so i wouldn't suggest it. but level twos look great!

and if you decide you don't want to go to a tanning salon, i used to use l'oreal sublime glow (it works so well and you spray it on yourself in a light spray) or jergens natural glow lotion which works really well as well.

theres a little information about the three options you have so i hope it helped you a little, and good luck!!Should I hit the tanning salons or go with a self-tanning lotion?
St. Tropez is really good self tan, my sister uses it and gets a really really nice, natural glow so i recommend using that. Or get a moisturizer with slight tan such as Johnson's Holiday Skin or Dove Summer Glow, they take a while to build a gradual tan but looks more natural i think as you wont just suddenly have a tan and your freinds will think its natural.

Fake tan geta a bad reputation, as long as its applied properly and with care and you wash your hands after, it can look amazing!

Just dont get a really dark one if your really pale.

A sun bed might be easier and less hassle, but theres a high skin cancer risk and my sister burnt herself on one of them.

Goodluck, i hope i helped you x
Get one of these moisturizers that has self tanning lotion in it. You will not go orange as you will appear to tan naturally.

I love Arbonne's self tanner- it never make me orange and it sprays on- very convenient.

BTW- 90% of signs of aging is cause by UVA and UVB rays!
