They seem to be opening up everywhere and my gut feeling is that the market cannot sustain such volume so what do you think will be the outcome for new salon owners?Considering how many beauty salons are opening up,is the bubble due to burst?
I think you are talking about 'market saturation.' Beauty salons are a service industry wiTh very few chains, that is most are single owner businesses, usually a sole trader or private limited partnership.
This means that competition will be pretty much localised, meaning that a woman in Edinburgh wont be looking for a beautician in Birmingham, for example.
Your competitors will likely to be within a 10 mile radius of your shop. So the key is to find an area with few or no beauty salons, possibly in a thriving town where you can charge premium rates for a quality driven service.
As you say. This is hardly likely since areas of key sales potential are likely to be well represented. I would then seek out a well to do rural town/village that may not have a beauty salon.
