Are there many beauty salons that do waxing in Benidorm, any recommendations?

I'm off to Benidorm on Saturday and haven't had time to wax my legs. If I do it myself, the job's not quite as good. Help! Are there many beauty salons that do waxing in Benidorm, any recommendations?
Depends where you are flying from - some airports have salons where you can get a wax and a spray tan etc - one way to kill time before your flight! If not I'm sure there are plenty of salons in Benidorm

How much do hair salons work (ie: profit, advertisement, and pay for employees)?

I want to get estimates on how many clients a typical hair salon gets per week , i know fri-sat are the busiest. Also how do owners compensate their employees i have heard of 2 different ways a) the owner charges hairstylist rent for use of the salon ie: $150-$300 per week but all the money they get from clients, they get to keep. or b) the owner gives the hairstylist a percentage of the haircuts that they make (ie: 40-60%). Which one is most commonHow much do hair salons work (ie: profit, advertisement, and pay for employees)?
i think it would depend on the flow of customers if you had a large flow of customers so you would have more and mroe stylist then the renting the area may be profitable. but in actuality most salons have like 4 or 5 people working including the owner, you have to think of rent for your building, power, insurances, payroll taxes, workers comp, sales and use tax, and so many other things that you have to pay out of the business profits it is a better choice to do the % because then you will be making more money. think about the math once you figure how many people come in on average and how much it is on average for a hair cut then break that down into precentages and add up what you would be getting and then you will see how it could be if you had 2 or 3 or even 4 stylists.

    I hope this helps.

Art Hair Salon. Its a really good salon, good service and everything, plus their hair dyes don't have amonia in them at all. But, the colour only stays in for about 6-8 weeks then it goes tweaky and what not.

Is there a company who buys hair from hair salons?

I know Locks of love and Wigs for Kids use hair 10-12 inches long, but is there a place who buys or accepts donations of hair that is short? Is there a company who buys hair from hair salons?
Not that I am aware of. The need long hair, not short. The reason why is because you can't really sew in short hair on a wog very well. The next reason is, the reason they sell wigs that have long hair is so people can have them cut how they want. As far as I know, they don't want short hair. Sorry! Is there a company who buys hair from hair salons?
Yes. They donate it to the cancer patients.
im not sure b/c the length has to be long so they can do something with it. just in case they mess up they have a few inches to play with. cut it, dye it, etc. the longer the better...but they should accept if people are willing to give their hair. if its your hair just let it grow out more.

  • How do you get salon hair at home?? What products do salons use? Does Anyone actually work at a salon?!?

What kind of straightening irons do they use? What kind of heat protection stuff do they use? What is the name of the shampoo/conditioner they use? Advice from any pros or people who actually work at a salon, please tell me the secrets%26lt;33

btw: i straighten my hair almost everyday, but not so much during the summer. i also dye my hair quite a bit.

I need people who actually work at a hair salon to answer this question.

-thank you so muchHow do you get salon hair at home?? What products do salons use? Does Anyone actually work at a salon?!?
Well first off, there are so many products on the market that not every salon will use the same ones. We use everything from Redken to Enjoy to Matrix to Sebastian to Pureology. And the ones we use will depend on your hair, that goes for shampoos/condtioners styling products etc. If you color your hair frequently, I generally recommend the Pureology line.

As for flat irons...I use a Paul Brown Hawaii, but Ive had CHIs %26amp; others in the past. (CHI Is crap BTW.) Other stylists in my salon use Paul Mitchell, Sedu %26amp; GHD etc. Just personal preference.

I would caution you against flat ironing your hair everyday...its really hard on your hair. If you do flat iron use a good heat protectant (Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide) and also a straightening balm (Redken Align)

What do Hair salons do with their old appliances and furniture when it's time to upgrade?

Do they sell thier old Hairdryer chairs and the curling Irons and all that or do they donate them to someone. or worst of all just Dump in the Trash somewhere. I'd love to get a hold of old Junk like the Hairdryer chairs and put them in a museum dedicated to beauty. What do Hair salons do with their old appliances and furniture when it's time to upgrade?
Hair salons usally put old furniture in a stroage or like garage or werehouse dumpster place. It like this really big room where salon owners can go and trade or just purchase new or used appliance and furniture. You usally need to have a license, but now a days...people will do anything to have a couple bucks in their pockets. Anyways, it will be awesome if u had a museum of beauty well because im a girl and beauty is what i rely on basically 99.9% of the time. So when u become famous, dont forget the little people like us :P!What do Hair salons do with their old appliances and furniture when it's time to upgrade?
Depending on the condition some resell and some just throw it out. :) You probably won't notice it if its dumped. Most of them have to be pulled apart. Nice idea though and good luck! :)
if you know someone who's need it donate them but if you don't know just put it in the trash and some one may be take it good luck anyway you goin to have more oportunity to win more clients and money believe me....

What is the latest method/brand/technology in hair color ';glaze'; used in top hair salons?

I just had my hair colored and I feel like my hairdresser is taking me for a ride (long story).

Now he wants me to come in again after a few days and spend $150 getting a ';glaze';.

When I asked whether he meant Sebastian Cellophane, he laughed and said ';no, that's old school';.

Can I do this on my own and what product is he referring to when he says ';glaze';?What is the latest method/brand/technology in hair color ';glaze'; used in top hair salons?
A color glaze is a product that puts shine and a color tone into the hair to help color last longer and give a shinier look. Some salons use Matrix prisms. Can you explain what color you had done and how it turned out? grylizz@aol.com . A Little Cut Up by Liz Gray in HH,Tx.What is the latest method/brand/technology in hair color ';glaze'; used in top hair salons?
that's such a rip off..you can buy a color glaze and do it yourself..plus you usually use a glaze to restore the shine/vibrant color when a a dye job is too new to redye but the shine/color is starting to fade
    don't do it.

its to make your hair shinier i think. you can do that easily at home by spraying a little hairspray, or rinsing your hair with vinegar or even lemon juice. you can also just use a shining shampoo and smoothing cream.
i'm not sure exactly, but there are glazes that are wayy cheaper than $150.

    http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/se鈥?/a>
if you like your hair color the way it is now who cares about the glaze. if you did highlights the glaze will soften the color to a less brassy more natural color, and this you can do it yourself. its almost like a shampoo and rinse thing.

Are Fake Bake products available anywhere besides tanning salons and online?

Besides their lotions I'd also like to try their Legal Sunburn Blush and their powder bronzer :) thanks and also if you've tried their products, let me know your opinion on them! Are Fake Bake products available anywhere besides tanning salons and online?
    Boots and Selfridges have them.

They are quite good - I have tried the tanning lotion and it works quite well. No streaks - light tan. Not as dark as St Tropez which gives a dark bronze shade. Fake Bake gives you a golden colour.

There is one thing I really don't like about Fake Bake though - the cream goes invisible the moment you rub it into your skin so it can be tricky knowing what areas you have covered, so you probably end up using more of it just to make sure you applied it all over. I wish it could have been like St Tropez where you get a green tint shade when applying, making it so much easier. Are Fake Bake products available anywhere besides tanning salons and online?
    nope

yes, but only if you really know what you're doing. Just buy the cheap glue on ones and put like 8 coats of clear polish on them, it will make them look more like acrylic. Do most salons make it available to give pink highlights?

If not, what is a good, at home brand that will dye dark blonde hair light and/or hot pink. If so, where can I get it?

Thanks for help!Do most salons make it available to give pink highlights?
if it's a salon then they should have it. it shouldn't be a problem.Do most salons make it available to give pink highlights?
if you want pink highlights, i'd say dye some pink dye and go to a salon to have it done professionally.
you can get anycolor you want if you go to a professional salon. i know people who have gotten purple, some have gotten red, some blue, and i know one girl who has pink.
typically most salons do make it available to give streaks and highlites and hair colorings in every color. i dont know about any good at-home highliting brands, but u can find at-home kits at cheap places like walgreens and super walmart.
im pretty sure most salons have pink dye. my friend just got pink highlights from a salon and it looks real cool so go for it!
ya any salon will do what you want.ya one more thing don't do it at home let the pros do it for u.thats why they went to school=]
i would definatly go to a salon for that because most of the stuff you get at sally's or whatever doesnt last as long as a salon highlight. i would try say regis or mastercuts. if not if you have a paul mitchell school/salon around you i know they do them there. i go to cincinnati academy paul mitchell partner school.
i would go to the salon. cuz u might not get it as pink as u want it or it might come out lookin diff. i was just thinkin about that cuz i think it would be cute and different!!
I'm not too sure about where you can get it done professionally, but on ManicPanic.com they have every color hair dye under the sun. Their directions say ideally that you should bleach your hair before dyeing it, but you might be okay since you have blonde hair.

    Hope this helps!!!
I don't think so. But you can buy the pink hair dye and ask them to do it for you, professionally. That is always a good choice for you and your hair.

    Hope i help you (:
If the salon doesn't do it, use Manic Panic. If the salon offers it, go to the salon.

  • Can you get parts of very dark brown hair bleached to a platinum blonde in salons in one shot?

    If not, any other Options???

I need it to add contrast to my black/dark brown hair,

and possibly put manic panic in.Can you get parts of very dark brown hair bleached to a platinum blonde in salons in one shot?
I went to the hairdresser asking for exactly that. They told me they could do it, but it would damage my hair and could possibly fall out. That freaked me out enough so I went a long with all the treatments and expensive lighting procedures. In the end, I found they were just ripping me off by slowly lightening my hair by 2 shades each time.

I suggest going to your hair dresser and saying you want your har platinum blonde - you don't care about the damage it does to your hair (unless you do). They might not be able to do it in one go but I reckon any hairdresser could lighten it to a dirty blonde colour.

If you dont want to go to a hairdresser, but those do it yourself packs and slowly lighten your hair by about 4 shades each time. Start off dying it a light brown. Then wait a couple of days and dye it a blonde colour. Then wait a couple of days and go all out with a platinum blonde colour. Keep your hair conditioned between each dying session.

    Good luck!

Why is it always Asian people at nail salons?

I have nothing against Asians, it's just that whenever I go to a nail salon there are only Asain people working there. Why is that? Why is it always Asian people at nail salons?
Vietnamese is the stereotype. I think different groups find out how to make money one way and then it becomes popular. Indians are known for convenience stores and hotels, Koreans-grocery...I have no idea why and I have no idea if I'm only being stereotypical or if this is really true. Why is it always Asian people at nail salons?
They are skilled. And they aren't always Asian. My mom asked one of the workers if she was Chinese and said she was Vietnamese.

    -be happi, live well.
good question...i have no idea either...its like they come to america and the girls have to work at nail salons why asian guys do other stuff.

How do salons apply false nails? Do them have to file you natural nails?

I'm thinking of getting my nails done, and false nails put on, but am nervous of the procedure they use. Do they really have to file your natural nails so the glue will hold better? How do salons apply false nails? Do them have to file you natural nails?
They file your nail just enough to give it a rough feel, this allows the glue to stick. It second take 2-5 sec for each nail, but watch the technican, and watch how they apply the glue it will be uncomfortable if it touches the skin at the tip of your nail. They will then apply a bonding liquid before applying the acrylic. After they dry, they will then file the nail and smooth them, apply an oil and ask you to wash your hands. If you are getting laser or gel nails the process is a little bit longer. The fill usually last 2 weeks. How do salons apply false nails? Do them have to file you natural nails?
I've never gotten it done, but my friends have and I think the manicurists just put the false nail over your real nail. they may have to narrow your real nail, I don't know.
omg! ive done my nails like dozens of times and yes they do ';thin'; or file ur nails gown in lenghth and in thickness! but they look so cute! but after ur nails falls off make sure u put some nailpolish or something so they dont break easily cuz its weak thatz if u want them long cuz they grow like crazy!
yeah they do. it destroys your nails when u decide to take them off too. but they look nice. and u have to spend 10-20 $$ every 2-3 weeks for a fill.
they do file down the natural nail before they glue on the fake nail and apply the wrap (acrylic, glass, etc...) to give it a smooth, natural appearance. some places file it by hand and that doesn't hurt it is just time consuming. other places use a motorized file which, if not used carefully, can injure your cuticles. but there really is nothing to be afraid of. i have gotten it done once but i prefer my natural nails but it wasn't a bad experience at all.
YES they do but its done with a sort of abrasive q tip and its done with both acrylic and gel nails MAXWELL PACEY HAMILTON ON CANADA
they do file your natural nails....it's not bat at all...if your afraid it hurts, it doesn't- at all....its just fun when they play with your hands and sometimes the other manicurtists give you a massage-at least i got one when i went last time...but don't expect that cuz the salon i went to was in upstate (near albany, ny) and it was pretty expensive.....they asked for $85 for tips..but the regular price is $28.....good luck!

How much do Hairdresses make at fancy salons?

It seems like the price of a good haircut for women is going up more and more. I feel even more ripped off when I am tipping. I am happy with my hair dresser and would like for her to have a good tip but the price I pay for the hair cut seems a bit ridiculous. I am a very picky person when it comes to my hair and don't trust just anyone. However, if I found out how much they make I may reconsider finding a cheaper place. Currently, I pay $75 every 6-8 weeks for my cut.How much do Hairdresses make at fancy salons?
Depending on the salon, the hairstylist makes anywhere form 30-70%. They also may get paid an hourly rate instead of commission. I am a nail tech and I know tips are greatly appreciated. We work hard and they are a big part of our income.

You should be tipping your stylist 15-25%How much do Hairdresses make at fancy salons?
depends. probally more than i make. also i hear that some offer other things for more money. like getting naked and doing things for you. i had 1 sit on my lap and ask if i wanted to trim her hair, not the 1 on her head. she wanted 50 bucks. it was late and it was just about time to close, so i did say yes. but she wanted more money. what a con she was. i went in for a 10 dollar haircut and walked out with a 100 dollar well you get what i mean. but she was hot so it was worth it. until i had to go to the clinic. but thats a whole different story. my wife was not real happy with me. whats the moral of this story? when you go in for a haircut just get your haircut. leave the hair person alone. thanks hope this helps
i pay around $50 for my haircut. i've been using the same hairdresser for 11 years. when i first went to her it was only $15. i finally asked her a few years ago what percentage she got. she said she makes 25%-50% depending on what she's doing but then the boss ends up charging her a ';rental fee'; for working there so she probably makes less than her ';cut';.
I suggest women get $10 haircuts and colour only twice a year!!!!!!
The stylist I see charges $70 for a cut, $125 for highlights. So if I get a cut and highlights, there is $200 right there before tip.

He has been at this salon for twelve years, he has reached the point where he gets 50% of his earnings and no longer ';rents'; his chair. I have tried to figure out what his annual earnings are as well, and to the best of my knowledge, I would approximate that he is earning about $60k a year.

If your stylist pays rent for their chair and has an assistant, that is money directly out of their pocket.

    Hope this helps.

What salons carry Manic Panic Vibrant Hair Color?

I'm looking to dye my hair Electric Orange but am afraid to do it at home and on my own. I was wondering if any Salons have manic panic or special effects hair dye... Or if its even worth going to a Salon at all? Does anyone have any experience with this? What salons carry Manic Panic Vibrant Hair Color?
Salons aren't good at unnatural colours; you're not paying for quality, you're paying for the right to yell at someone else when it looks shitty

Go for SFX over manic panic, they're so much better in every way; more vibrant colours, longer lasting, just generally great

As for the method it's pretty easy, here's a great little walkthrough (I know it's for rainbow hair, just ignore the junk about sectioning and different colours) http://community.livejournal.com/dyed_ha鈥?/a>

And the 'beginner guides' section over at http://haircrazy.info/ is greatWhat salons carry Manic Panic Vibrant Hair Color?
manic panic would more then likely be sold at a more edgy hair place or sallys beauty supply(thats where i get all mine)

if u take the dye to the salon they will dye it for u all u have to do is tell them EXACTLY what all u want dyed

and as for doing it yourself its really easy, i do all mine myself and it turns out great :D

u could also have a friend help u with it if your dying your WHOLE head cuz it would be easyer to get all of your hair and not make it turn out all patchy.
haha, i love how on yahoo answers, when you say ';i DON'T want to go to a salon';, the people tell you to go. and when you say ';i WANT to go to a salon';, they tell you to do it at home. you'll never get what you want on yahoo answers. =)

but i have never heard of a salon who sells manic panic. ask a friend to do it.
i havent heard of any salons who carry manic panic.

    it's an easy do-at-home job.

just make sure all your hair is covered with the dye and buy an extra one in case you miss spots.

Where in TN has the least nail salons or where is the best place to open one?

Hi I'am planing on opening a nail salon soon. I live in Nashville TN. There are too many nail salons here so i want to know where has the least. I dont care where it is located at as long as it's in TN. Thank for your help, hope this helps me.Where in TN has the least nail salons or where is the best place to open one?
I haven't noticed many here in Dickson. There are probably a few, but they aren't all over the place like in Nashville or Murfreesboro. I just looked in the phone book, and there are only 8 listed.

The cool thing about Dickson, too, is that it serves as kind of a hub for many surrounding rural communities. So your shop would likely have customers from a good 20-30 miles or so around Dickson.Where in TN has the least nail salons or where is the best place to open one?
Welcome to the fun art of dot mapping. You either do this yourself or you pay for this info from a company. Mind you, it can get very expensive.

I have done this a few times for my company when I have looked at new towns. So I know where competition is, where other items are that help my business, etc.

Best way I found was download Google Earth (just put that into the search). Its a 3D mapping program of the earth. Then get online in a phone book and hit up the nalon salon section.

Then input each address into Google Earth and place a marker. Do this over n over for each town or the town you are looking at. Once you have them all dotted on the map. You will easily see where an opening is, where they are grouped. Where not to be, etc. And from the open zones you then study those areas to see if a nail salon would survive or not.

This is the ugly, paper pushing side of business I hate to say. But take the time and do it, save and or print it out as well. And its valuable info that will always help your company. Before Google Earth came along, I use to do this with an actual wall map from floor to ceiling of a town and used boxes of colored push pins.

Even go to the main nail salon company web sites to collect all their store locations right away. Least get all the corporate stores dotted as they are the big bucks. Then dot the independant owners by phone book. If you have a hard time finding an online yellow pages, there is one on the front page of www.dogpile.com

Why do some people say that tanning salons are bad?

I don't see what the big deal is. As long as you use lotion and don't over due it by going every day of the week, then you should be fine.

I think tanning salons are the best thing that has ever happened. It's a great way to keep your skin looking healthy and tan all year around. Why do some people say that tanning salons are bad?
I think the problem is that the damage from UV rays are cumulative, meaning even if you don't overdo it, you're still doing some damage every time you go to one. It adds up, and skin damage from the sun or a tanning bed will eventually make you look older.

Do I think tanning beds are evil? Naw. But skin cancer is REALLY dangerous, and years of regular use of a tanning bed can increase your chances as much as getting a few sunburns. If they could just improve spray-on tans to where they look like a REAL tan, then we wouldn't have a problem any more. Why do some people say that tanning salons are bad?
at least we will die looking tanned
Not sure if you mean spray-on facilities, which I have no problem with...or TANNING BEDS! TANNING BEDS ARE BAD--because they CAUSE CANCER!

The damaging rays are known to cause cancer, and it is only a matter of time before the government outlaws them for the harm that they do to every single person who crawls into one!
I agree! I go 3 days a week to keep my face dry and oil free and love it! my acne has completely gone away :D

Does anyone know any good, resonably priced salons in San Antonio Texas?

Or perhaps know someone that is good at cutting curly hair? I usually go to Tony and Guy @ Northstar Mall, but I just can't afford around $80 for a hair cut any more. My hair is curly, so I'm looking for people that know what their doing, curly hair is tricky, and finding a hair stylist can be trickier. Thanks!Does anyone know any good, resonably priced salons in San Antonio Texas?
Go to Jeanette's, and ask for Emalie. i think its around 30-35$ for a wet cut.( i never got it blow-dry and styled because it cost more) which is always what i did. i LOVE her. i always gave her a 20$ tip because i could never find anyone in SA that knew how to do a good razor cut. She will be honest with you and tell you what she can do. i actually brought my brother to her, because he had REALLY long hair and it was time to cut it. and instead of whacking it all off really short. She told him he needed to do a longer mens cut ( since he had it long for such long period of time if he whacked it all off it wouldn't sit right so they had to retrain his hair) i almost fell over backwards. and he loved his hair too, he wouldn't shut-up about it! its over in the stone oak area

It depends on the salon you go to. I remember a salon in houston called, ';Root of You';, they had really good service. It was kind of upscale and the prices are affordable. My hair came out really good also. Wish i could go back.

Some do, some don't, you'll have to call. In booth rental salons stylists have to provide everything that they use themselves so many won't have it on hand.

Are there age restrictions for tanning salons?

I have custody of my younger sister whos 15 and she wants to go to a tanning salon. I have no problem with it, but I'm not sure if she can go alone.

Since she's only 15 can she go to a tanning salon by herself? Are there age restrictions for tanning salons?
She must be over the age of 14 to even be permitted in tanning salons. But since she is only 15, she still must have a parent sign a waver. Are there age restrictions for tanning salons?
i think casey is close------my daughter owened a salon a couple years back, and you had to be 18--that's because of the contract thing---but mostly as long as a parent or gaurdian goes in with her---if you get on good standings and they know you they just may let her go alone---if they see ya in there often---plus some 15 year olds look 18---you could write up a consent letter releasing legal obligations, get it notorized ---and you sign it---they may except it, then she can go alone---
Most salons require you to be at least 18. However, some salons let you tan at a younger age as long as the parent or legal guardian is present to sign a waiver. You could try calling some local tanning salons and asking what their policies are and go from there.

    Hope this helped!

What is more damaging-tanning salons or tanning in the sun?

I always get a natural tan from the sun, (I would rather do sprays and tanning lotions but I think those look fake) but I was just wondering if that is more, less, or about the same amount of skin damage that comes from tanning salons.

Thanks:)What is more damaging-tanning salons or tanning in the sun?
Most of these answers are all wrong! First of all, yes, there's warning labels on tanning beds because it's POSSIBLE that it may cause cancer if done irresponsibly. That's like not driving because you MIGHT get into a car accident.

Second- the phrase everything in moderation comes to mind. Tanning isn't bad for you, burning is. In fact, UV light is essential to human health. It's a mood elevator and has been shown to alleviate the symptoms of mild depression. UV light also increases your natural production of Vitamin D, which people aren't getting enough of anymore because of the skin cancer scare. It actually has become an epidemic.

Long story short- if you tan a little today and gradually increase your exposure, you'll tan safely. Think of tanning for your skin as lifting weights for your muscles. Each time you do it, you tear little fibers in your muscle, but your muscle repairs itself and becomes stronger each time. As long as you don't overwork your muscles (or get a burn) you should be safe.

My advice though- indoor tanning- it's government regulated and there are professionals there to make sure you stay safe and recommend how long and often you tan according to your skin type. What is more damaging-tanning salons or tanning in the sun?
Tanning salons are more dangerous. And so are tanning products. If you can get tanned naturally, choose that option. It is always better not to introduce too much chemical to your skin/body. Use sunscreen when tanning though... Sunscreen does not mean you will not get tanned, but it protects your skin, which is really very sensitive and precious - don't want brown spots or any skin complications down the line.
The sun is much better because it isn't focused on your body like the light from a tanning bed is. Actually, the sun doesn't really cause skin damage unless if you tan every day, almost non-stop.
tanning in the sun really damages your face especially if you do it a lot of

    times.

sometimes you can't see it but sometimes it look like freckles
tanning salons are A LOT MORE dangerous than the natural sun, sprays, and lotions.

Can cause cancer a lot faster than the sun!
well they can both cause u to get cancer and sun spots which are bad but tanning salons are ALOT more dangerous.. i would do spray tan
both stupid. dont you read the lables on tanning both? its says may cause cancer

  • Should I hit the tanning salons or go with a self-tanning lotion?

I am pretty pale with redish/pinkish undertones. I am looking into the self tanners at walgreens but I really dont want to turn orange or have a mess. Tanning is relazing but I am sometimes just to lazy to get up and go.It takes me a while to tan and i never get that deep dark brown like i want. I DONT want to look orange and i do want to look natural!

Advice please!! Thanks!Should I hit the tanning salons or go with a self-tanning lotion?
(i apologize ahead for this being so freaking long)

okay of course i'm going to tell you to go to a tanning salon because i work at one, but i'll give you my reasons as to why also haha.

you'll always hear stuff about skin cancer blah blah, which it's true, tanning does put you at risk for cancer, but there is a smart way to tan.

try to find high powered (with high pressured lamps) beds. you may think the higher pressured beds are going to hurt your skin more but they actually help. you do not have to go in them as much (depending on the bed 1-3 times a week or for certain beds 2-3 times a month...which is good if you're too lazy to go tan a lot!) verses the low pressured beds where you need to go 3-5 times a week to maintain your tan. also the higher pressured beds have a lower burn ratio..(the salon i work at has the ergoline open sun 1050 and it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to burn..i promise you even when i'm the palest of all pale i never burn in the bed! it's amazing)

also if you are pretty pale, try using a lotion while you tan! lotion not only maximizes your tan but it prepares your skin for UV rays and keeps it moisturized as well. try one with a heat activated bronzer to give you a darker tan! (you won't look orange). also another option to help your skin is the mystic tan. before you completely rule this option out let me explain it..

yes the mystic can mess up sometimes, but if you keep your skin hydrated and healthy it will work fine. and it isn't orange. tanning in a bed and then tanning in the spray on mystic booth really looks good (i do it myself all the time). don't overdo the mystic though, tan in it once to twice a week. (if you do use the mystic booth and tan in a bed with lotion..make sure your lotion does NOT have a bronzer...this can cause streaking!) the mystic booth also has different levels of tanning (color) so try starting out with a level one to test it, then try a level 2 (level two has more bronzer giving you a darker color). and honestly i've tried a level three mystic..and it wasn't that great..it was just obviously fake, so i wouldn't suggest it. but level twos look great!

and if you decide you don't want to go to a tanning salon, i used to use l'oreal sublime glow (it works so well and you spray it on yourself in a light spray) or jergens natural glow lotion which works really well as well.

theres a little information about the three options you have so i hope it helped you a little, and good luck!!Should I hit the tanning salons or go with a self-tanning lotion?
St. Tropez is really good self tan, my sister uses it and gets a really really nice, natural glow so i recommend using that. Or get a moisturizer with slight tan such as Johnson's Holiday Skin or Dove Summer Glow, they take a while to build a gradual tan but looks more natural i think as you wont just suddenly have a tan and your freinds will think its natural.

Fake tan geta a bad reputation, as long as its applied properly and with care and you wash your hands after, it can look amazing!

Just dont get a really dark one if your really pale.

A sun bed might be easier and less hassle, but theres a high skin cancer risk and my sister burnt herself on one of them.

    Goodluck, i hope i helped you x
Get one of these moisturizers that has self tanning lotion in it. You will not go orange as you will appear to tan naturally.

Why do women using tanning salons when they have the sun outside for free?

Most people will not watch you sunbath in your back yard if you tell them you will be naked.

Come on ladies?!Why do women using tanning salons when they have the sun outside for free?
Because they want to pay to get skin cancer and turn that nasty fake orange color

It's the cool thing to do.

I'll stick to my glow-in-the-dark self. Why do women using tanning salons when they have the sun outside for free?
Tanning in a tanning bed provides more control of the rays. Less of the damaging rays are used in a tanning bed. Out in the sun the skin cancer causing rays are high. Sun either from a bed or out side have health benefits if used correctly and not over used. Also tanning allows the skin to protect itself from burning when outside. Fake tans from a bottle do not provide and of the health benefits like vitamin e and protecting the skin from burning.
I'm not sure. At least the sun gives you vitamins but tanning is just concentrated rays of imitation sun. Women shouldn't go tanning at all. Some just want to conform (this can be subconscious) to what the media and society in general consider beautiful. Either way melanoma cancer is not attractive or healthy and I think men should be ashamed when they go after these girls who tan. They further perpetuate the stereotype of what beauty is over what beauty can be.
I did it for a short while simply because I didn't want tan lines (I layed in the tanning bed butt naked). I quit though, for many reasons:

    Nowhere to park ever

Crappy music being played in the salon

    Snooty bitches

I got sick the last couple times I went in (apparently someone didn't sanitize the bed good enough, which freaks me out because if I can catch somebodies cold laying in the tanning bed, then that means I can catch any other contagious disease they may have).

Now I just tan at home, outside, then put self-tanning lotion on my boobies and other private areas :)
The reason why woman dont use the sun to get a tan is because the sun gives u sunburnt. However, if they are tryng to avoid getting skin cancer from the sun, tanning salons arent any better. It just depends on what other deseases you might catch/, ratter than common skin cancer.
I suppose I will take the word of others that it's faster. As for me, I love laying outside without a stitch soaking up good old Mr. Sun. The warmth feels wonderful on my body. Salons just seems so cold and unfriendly.
Sun can be damaging.....then again tanning salons can be damaging too. The self tanning lotions are what's in now.
most girls like myself cant get a tan in the sun epically if you live in England so that why we go to salons
I get tanner fast in a salon and it's relaxing for me.

Do you have to make an appointment at most tanning salons?

I've never been to a tanning salon before and I'd like to go to one next week... I just have 2 questions, if you'd be nice enough to answer them :]

    1. Do you need an appointment?

    2. Do you have to have a membership?Do you have to make an appointment at most tanning salons?
Most salons will accept walk-ins. Salons do have busy times--lunch hours and after 5 are their busiest times. However, if a regular with an appointment comes in, that person will be allowed to use the facilities before you. You don't have to become a member, but if you plan on tanning more than once, it's cheaper to purchase a tanning package than to pay for individual sessions.Do you have to make an appointment at most tanning salons?
Almost all tanning salons accept walk ins. If they're really busy you might have to wait a little while, but you shouldn't need an appointment.

And as for the membership thing, you might want to check out some tanning salons' websites before you actually go (lots of times the websites say whether or not they're ';no contract';) If you do have to have a contract, you'll probably be PAYING to tan in, like, December and January even though you probably won't actually BE tanning in those months. In my opinion, no contract ';pay when you get there'; tanning places are the way to go.

Oh, and if you're under 18 be sure to bring someone over 18 to sign the forms for you (most reputable places make you have a guardian with you if you're under 18). And if you go there a lot, you wont have to bring your parent with you every time because they'll have the forms on file AND they'll recognize you.

    Good luck!
usually you would just want to buy a month of endless tanning because it's cheaper just to get a package instead of paying for walkins every time. but im sure you'll be very happy with your tan

    good luck

    hope i helped.

Well, a bob is actually a really difficult haircut to do, and it is hard to get it even. I, along with everyone else at my school, was not taught how to do a bob. You would be surprised how often they just throw us out there and expect us to figure it out. In general, cutting hair is easy, but a bob is more complicated, the hair has to lay just right and you have nothing to duplicate the angle with when you move to another section of hair. The best thing to do is to actually go to a barber. Their technical skills are higher than out, they work on that stuff a lot more because thy don't spend time on skin, nails, color, waxing, and so on, just cutting. They are master cutters and are great with woman's hair as well. Why do salons never cut my hair into a bob properly? Any recommended salons?
i got my hair cut at tony and guy for three years and it was always great, the only reason i stopped was because it was a little too pricey.

My hair is to my waist. I'd like it a little bit shorter ( but not much). Also to have it styled, with a layered look. The last time I asked a person to layer it for me, it was just 2 different lengths. I meant layered all the way down. How much do Beauty Salons charge to get hair dyed from dark brown to red, trimmed %26amp; styled?
First, I am a stylist, second, it really depends on how much color they have to use, for waist length hair, even in a not so high-end salon, you are looking at between 65-100 dollars, plus the haircut, and any stylist worth her training can give you the layers you want ( I could ). You really need to realize, that your stylist wont be there to style it for you everyday..unless you are uber rich and can afford to have her do your hair everyday, so pick a style that you think you can do after she shows you how, and she will if she knows what she's doing, also, it's good to get a good shampoo and conditioner and styling products made for color treated or chemically treated hair. Your color will last longer.

As for going from brown to red, it shouldn't be too hard, depending on how many shades lighter you are going...brown to red means lighter because you would be taking out some color to get to the red stages in your hair. Make sure your stylist does a thorough consultation with you and you are sure about what you want. Bring a picture of the look you are trying to achieve if you can, that will really help! How much do Beauty Salons charge to get hair dyed from dark brown to red, trimmed %26amp; styled?
It completely depends on the salon, but if you're looking for an estimate based on mid-scale chain price, then $100 would be a solid average to work off of.

It depends on the salon, the individual stylist, the length of your hair etc.

A dye job generally costs me $40-55 and a cut and style approx. $30-35. Once you throw tip in there, it's usually around $100.
It depends on what beauty salon you go to but to dye it,trim it and style it it's about $90-$100.
My freinds that are woman, get it done for around 350.0 but thats a upperscale sallon, im sire other places will do it for cheaper. try that hope it helps
Well since you have long hair it will cost more to dye it since they have to use more than one bottle. I really depends where you go...stylists all have their own price ranges. To get what you want on the style you might want to go to a pricey salon because you will probably be happier with the cut but you can probably go anywhere for the hair dye. If you are just looking for like a auburn type color you should just grab a friend and do it yourself but if you're looking for something bright red definately go to a salon. The good thing about salons is that especially with hair color they will try to fix it if you aren't happy

I would think like at least 100 on color and 50-100 on the cut/style

Is it dangerous to get your nail done at local salons that are licensed?

I get my maincures and pedicures at my local nail salons in my town. At least every month or two months. I always go to places that are licensed. But, I heard gross stories about it is not safe to do this even though the places are certified and is licensed because of the equiptment they use. Is that true or is it just all talk? Is it dangerous to go to nail salons? Is it dangerous to get your nail done at local salons that are licensed?
We definately take a chance in potentially putting our bodies at risk for infections. But we still go! So I'd say go to someplace where you see sterilizers and know they clean the tubs out. Don't go some place where they have those portable foot tubs (hard to clean). Also, ask them not to cut your cuticles (opens the nailbed up for infections) --- just push back. And if they must use the razor to shave your heels then request a fresh blade.

Also, never shave your legs before going for a pedicure. Is it dangerous to get your nail done at local salons that are licensed?
    its safe
No it is not dangerous as long as the salon sanitizes thier equipment.
No but when you get your nails try not to get them done back to back. Let your nail rest in between because your nail base will weaken if you don't.
    its just talk
    no
Some salons have had problems because they don't follow the rules. Rules are followed more closely at a beauty colleges because it's a learning environment and students are their to learn the rules.

Why do people say that hispanics go to ethnic hair salons?

All the hispanics I know have long, black straight hair like American Indians. Why would they need to go to an ethnic salon? Why do people say that hispanics go to ethnic hair salons?
Because they are ignorant. Why do people say that hispanics go to ethnic hair salons?
hispanics are a very diverse culture some like my mother have really curly hair like black people and some like me have straight sort of wavy not black but brown hair. Maybe you didn't realized this but assuming that all hispanics have straight black hair is just as ignorant

I sometimes have individual false lashes applied by nail salons, is that good for my natural eyelashes?

especially when removing them i find my lashes are becoming thinner, is there a way that i can apply the individual lashes and not suffer eyelash loss?I sometimes have individual false lashes applied by nail salons, is that good for my natural eyelashes?
Why in the world are you having false eyelashes applied at nail salons? These people aren't trained, nor licensed in this sort of thing. And they should not be doing these services because of these reasons. Go to a real spa that has true professionals working for them. Don't waste another penny on these dirty, infection breeding grounds that they refer to as being a salon.I sometimes have individual false lashes applied by nail salons, is that good for my natural eyelashes?
make sure that when your removing your eyelashes that you use '; eyelash glue remover'; everyone says use babyoil noooooooo dont do that that does not do the trick. and you should have periods of time in between eyelash sets so your real lashes can grow. dont forget to brush your real lashes when you dont have any false ones on.
they're not intended to be worn everyday, sometimes only.

How do you ask for emo/scene hair @ vietnamese salons ?

I live in garden grove, california and most of the salons here are mostly vietnamese salons and a tad bit of mexican ones and there are only a speckle of caucasion salons. Anyways, not to be very sterotypical, I just want to know how to ask for a scene haircut for mainly a vietnamese salon because they're everywhere and they don't speak much english, and I don't speak vietnamese either. Any suggestions ?How do you ask for emo/scene hair @ vietnamese salons ?
garden grove, whootwhoot. i live in cerritos. okaay anyways. ask them to keep the length, %26amp; ask for a lot of layers. %26amp; when it comes to the top, to make it short. i'm filipina, i get haircuts in long beach which means hella viets. ahha. or bring a picture. its easier. How do you ask for emo/scene hair @ vietnamese salons ?
i would suggest going to a salon where you think they might speak english, and make sure you take a picture of what you'd like your hair to look like. i went to fantastic sams, and an asian lady gave me a great emo/scene haircut =]
Woah... You live around my area...

    Anyways, just bring a picture.

    Or learn Vietnamese... lol. Kidding.

    Just print out a picture.
I would find a picture of the hair you want online and then print it out, then show it to them and say something like I want my hair like that. Or just ';Like That'; Haha. It works for me.
pictures! i love when my clients bring pictures hahah its sooo much easier to get a glimpse of what they want, rather than guessing

  • What do hair salons put in your hair after you get a hair cut?

i went to tgf haircutters, i think, and after my haircut they put something in my hair that made it all soft and not frizzy.....does anyone know what it was and how much it costs? What do hair salons put in your hair after you get a hair cut?
a serum would be my best guess but i would cll them and ask the girl that did your hair but Bain de terre recovery complex makes your feel like butter!!What do hair salons put in your hair after you get a hair cut?
Just call them and ask. Most likely you will have to get it through a supply house.Sometimes they will sell it to you.Get ready to pay,it won't be cheap.
conditioner, price depends on which kinds they use.
what you don't make sense I'm not saying it in a mean way that could be anything think about it?? if i were to get my hair dry were ever your going 9out of 10 i have a different hair type from YOU!! what if i have dry hair it could be a product to give me even more moisture?? so long story short i don't know... us on yahoo answers don't know just when you get it cut ASKKKK THEM!!!
There are so many products out there it is hard to tell. They should have told you what it was and offered it to you for sale. The best thing is to go back to the same person and asked them what is was.

If it was at the shampoo bowl is was a conditioner. At the styling station it was most likely a anti frizz serum. Paul Mitchell has one called super skinny for about 8 or 9 dollars. it keep the frizzy out and makes the hair soft and shiny but you don't want to use to much because it can weight the hair down or make it look oily.

Is it common for African hair salons to use colored synthetic hair in their salons?

Or is it just those select few hair salons?

I want to get my hair braided in the box braid style, and I want synthetic, colored extentions braided in. Is it common for African hair salons to use synthetic hair extentions, or should I search for a place that does specifically that in the Oakland area?Is it common for African hair salons to use colored synthetic hair in their salons?
Some African-American salons only cater to natural hairstyles, while most do offer a variety like relaxing, perming and braiding. Just make a phone call! Also, check to see if there's a cosmetology school in your area. They have the latest trends in hairstyling and they're usually MUCH cheaper because the stylists are students. And they're usually supervised. Is it common for African hair salons to use colored synthetic hair in their salons?
they will use any kind of hair you want.

I don't know of one, but if you see someone and you like their hair, ask them where/who does their hair. Women are always more than happy to refer others to their stylist. I've done this a few times, and I've had great luck.

Are salons actally better or is it a myth?

The only people i heard say this were people who worked at a salon or people who heard it from someone that worked at a salon (can you say sketchy?) Are they all that better or is a scheme? Is there a good drug store shampoo that's equal quality.

I used Tresemme and flat iron so i got the heat one.Are salons actally better or is it a myth?
This is coming from a stylist %26amp; former salon owner, a good stylist is priceless. But sometimes they are hard to find so there are alternatives. Use good products not Pantene, Herbal Essence %26amp; Garnier they are silicone products. They make you hair nice at first but as the silicone builds up it locks out moisture your hair weakens %26amp; breaks. Use pro products they last longer because you use less so the extra expense is worth it. The shampoos don't contain a detergent lathering agent so it's weird at first because you are used to lather. Great specialty products are, Nioxxin,(for growth) Joico K-Pak Reconstructor also Silk Results, Rusk has New Pro Elements Keratin. Big Sexy has good general products. Take Biotin %26amp; Vitamin E. Don't use ';box color'; it's unpredictable %26amp; contains metallics that can leave permanent lines in your hair if you change color products. Go to Sally's Beauty Supply they have more professional products %26amp; they can assist you in your purchase %26amp; the prices are better. A lot of time you are buying old products from stores, if you look on the back, Paul Mitchell for example it says only sold in salons. If you have a Ulta store you can go there. Flat irons my stylist daughter %26amp; I use Rusk. Are salons actally better or is it a myth?
Actually a salon is better because Salons/hairdressers can get their hands on products that not just anyone can.

You want that bleached blonde hair? Some 'boxed' dyes just cant do it. thats why you go to a salon beause they have all of the right cremes/pastes aswell as treatments such as bluedrops, toners, dryers, sinks with special water pressured hoses.

Your also going to a salon and paying for the hairdressers techinque/skill. (Hairdressers dont just slap on a color and snip at your hair with some scissors, theres products, chemicals, shears) You need to give us more props then calling our way of life a scheme!

in the end, Salons are generally better, but if you can manage to do your own hair with whats on the market for the average consumer? go for it!
tresemme is better than others because it's a salon formula. The salon products are in fact better almost always.
A lot of hair products from the drug store are loaded with chemicals and detergents (hence why they are so cheap...no good ingredients in them). Most salon products (but not all) are much better for your hair.
Lol, they use the same shampoos you can buy at stores and stuff like that at salons. They just use different methods.

Do salons let you buy one little strip of hair extentions?

Like a funky color, pink, purple, blue etc...

*if not, where could i get extentions that are somewhat decent but not tooo toooo pricey?Do salons let you buy one little strip of hair extentions?
If you go to a Regis hair salon, they sell extensions, and they are one strip. And they have funky colors. At my specific store, they are 12 bucks, and they are human hair, so you can curl them, wash them, straighten them, anything them, ha ha. If you go buy an extension someplace they are not human hair, you cannot do those things to them. You have to leave them how they are.Do salons let you buy one little strip of hair extentions?
sallys carry some cool colors and stuff to make your own clip in sets

and usually you can calll the salon and ask how much per extension
usually not, but you can buy really cute ones off of ebay

Tanning Salons aren't very popular with South Koreans. The best place to find them would be in Itewon which is in Central Seoul. The best way for you to get there would be to either take the Military bus from Casey to Yongsan or to take the Train from Dongducheon to Uichiongbu and then change to Soul Station. from there just take a $5 cab ride to Itewan. Tell the Cab driver to take you to the Hamilton Hotel which will put you right accross the street from a good one. Don't worry about the Cams and your Husband can go. • Do salons wash your hair before they do an updo or should you wash it before you go?

Do salons wash your hair before they do an updo or should you wash it before you go? I have heard that a lot of places don't becuase it holds better, but I'm afraid if I don't wash it before that it'll look greasy and gross. Any opinions?Do salons wash your hair before they do an updo or should you wash it before you go?
You should call and ask the salon which they prefer. Some stylists prefer to wash their clients hair themselves. Other stylists expect you to come with clean hair.

Dirty hair DOES NOT make your style stay better. A stylist does not want to touch your greasy dirty hair. Natural oil and grease does nothing as far as the ';hold of the style';.

Stylist use their own products to ensure the style stays ex. flexible sprays, fixing spray, pomade, gel ect.Do salons wash your hair before they do an updo or should you wash it before you go?
Salons generally will not wash your hair. I have had my hair put up quite a few times and always been asked not to wash my hair as a small amount of dirt is necessary for a good hold. If it's too clean it just slides out.

However, it can make a difference what type of hair you have. For example- I have very fine hair which requires washing everyday. My hairdresser specifically asked me not to wash my hair before having it put up so I didn't. However, she decided when I got there that actually it wasn't clean enough for the style to look good and I completely agreed.

So if you have fine hair you probably should wash your hair the morning you are going to have it put up rather than just before you go. If however you have thick hair that doesn't grease up quickly it's probably best not too wash it that day.

Ultimately if your stylist is good they'll be able to put your hair up even if it is very clean it just involves a lot of products and back combing.

If in doubt just call them up and ask- I'm sure they won't mind, potentially different stylists might prefer working with day old vs. clean hair.
salons should wash your hair before they style it and use the tools. if they dont, stylist use scissors, brushes, tools, etc on people yucky dirty hair (they might even have lice) so its contaminated and used on other people's hair ,including you. it sounds totally disgusting. you dont want lice, do you? so make sure you go to a stylist that washes people's hair first
If you are only going in to have an updo it's better to have your hair washed with a styling mousse in it before you get there.
If it's washed in salon then your hair is too soft %26amp; flyaway. Much better to shampoo the night before an upstyle, it'll hold much better for you.
    usually you wash it before

    they are just styling it

its better your hair is clean for up do's and if its greasy it won't look as good
They don't wash your hair because day old hair is better for hold.
no your hair holds better the dirtier it is..dont wash it before you go.
yes they do because your hair has to be clean because if it is greasy it will not work to well

Is it true that relaxers in a box break your hair off more than salons?

When I got my hair braided at a salon the stylists assistant told me the box relaxers break your hair off. So is that true at all or was she just trying to get me to come in there more?Is it true that relaxers in a box break your hair off more than salons?
It depends on how you place it on your hair. I think she is just trying to get you in there more. Cuz if a box relaxer is done right, your hair shouldn't break off.Is it true that relaxers in a box break your hair off more than salons?
No its not true. Professional relaxer may have better quality accessory/styling products with it-neutralizer/conditioner, etc....but there isn't a lot of difference in chemicals or how they work. In another answer I described how my cousin took her $7 perm to her stylist when she punked out of applying it herself-she's brassy like that. And that is where the damage will come from, overprocessing, overlapping the relaxer on previous relaxed hair, which is controlled better in a professional salon environment. You can jack yourself up in a short amount of time when you decide or have to go at it solo, so you have to weigh it out.
I have found that box relaxers give the hair the bone straight texture and the salon relaxers just relax the wave and don't get your hair bone straight. So It does appear that the hair would break more easily because it is so straight and sometimes when its straighter it tends to be easier to break. With any chemical service you have to condition and take good care of the hair. But this is why it seems to break easier.
Usually, products sold to the public aren't as reliable or made with the same high quality ingredients as the ones bought and used at a salon.

Also, your stylist at a salon is trained to use these products, so breakage is less likely since they're using the proper procedures.

I'd say stick with your stylist doing a relaxer because there's a reason they have their license and they can be trusted with your hair.
I don't think so. I think it mayb bcause its harder if the person is relaxing their own hair or someone inexperienced is using the product. any of it can break your hair if used improperly and no protein is added back. You must have protein conditioners every so often after doing that to your hair. FYI : The (yolk) (I use 3-4) of an egg is a great pure protein conditioner for hair , but you must follow w/ a moisturizer- I beleive that people are trying to make money/sometimes you CAN do it yourself. good luck
In most cases, salons use better quality products than those sold in stores because they are for professionals only. However, some people use the boxes and they work just fine. But I think it has more to do with people not knowing how to apply them correctly and that's what leads to hair damage. But, unless you know how to use them correctly, I would recommend going to a salon.
That is what I have always heard. However, I think your hair may tend to break off more if you perm your own hair and do not do a good job especially when you can't see well in the back of the hair. Salon perms have a better quality, and are done hopefully by a professional. Perms are all harsh chemicals. I hate to get them and professionally done, they cannot stay on my more than 5 minutes after she has worked them through. No matter what I BURN!!!
Well I have notice it to be true with some people, but not all. I stop going to the salon and did a box perm once, and my hair did break. But, on the other hand I have a girlfriend who only uses box perm and her hair is great. I think it's a combo of both that hurt our hair.
she was wanting you to buy the products in her salon. but usualy what they use in the salons are much better then in the grocery store. go to sallys and ask for a brand thats helpful!
RELAXERS (doesn't matter if u buy it in a box or get it done in a salon!!!!) done incorrectly break ur hair... period
That's not really true but it is good to stick to the same type of relaxers

Everytime I go to get my toes done they always put this lotion on em' afterwards. It's pink and they put it in there own bottles so I have no idea the name of it. Does anyone know what the name is or where I can get it? It smells oohhhh soooo good and I love the way it make my skin feel. Thanks to anyone who answers!Does anybody know the name or where to get the lotion from nail salons?
from the nail salon they do sell them sometimesDoes anybody know the name or where to get the lotion from nail salons?
I do nails haha....it's mango lotion. We get it at the wholesale nail supply store. We buy a big gallon and refill them into the smaller bottles. I personally don't like the pink one. We use lavender at my shop. But um if you ask the ppl who do your toes I bet you they will sell some to you!!! I recommend the OPI lotions if you haven't tried those before. You can get that at Sally's.

  • Is the hair bleach used in salons different to the bleach used in DIY hair bleaching kits?

And is this why people recomend goin to a professional rather than DIY?Is the hair bleach used in salons different to the bleach used in DIY hair bleaching kits?
please don't listen to banshee-babe, us hairdressers DO NOT rely on hydrogen peroxide to lighten hair! hydrogen peroxide is just a carrier- it is ';developer'; it is used in conjunction with either bleach (to lighten hair) or colour (to either darken or tone hair) it basically just opens up the hairshaft to allow the bleach or colour to develop properly, without it then the bleach would just sit on the hair without penetrating and when washed would just wash straight off. ALL OTC bleaches and colours do contain hydrogen peroxide (hence why you have to mix either 2 bottles or a bottle and a tube together) ususally what is in the bottle is hydrogen peroxide, sachets are bleach and tubes are colour. OTC bleach is not any different to bleach used in salons. bleach is bleach and the only variations are the colours of bleach (some are left naturally white and some are tinted either blue or violet) and there are different levels of peroxide used, 20vol is sufficient for doing a whole head of lightening or colouring but then 40vol is used for highlights (this is because 40vol cannot touch the scalp else it would burn but it speeds up the lightening process so can be used during highlighting as nothing touches the scalp- only the hair) but peroxide has no lightening ability whatsoever, it is just purely DEVELOPER.Is the hair bleach used in salons different to the bleach used in DIY hair bleaching kits?
No they use the same stuff!! People just recommend going to a professional because they know what they are doing!! But I say if you know how to get the mix right and feel competent enough to bleach your own hair then there is nothing wrong with doing yourself!!
If you're talking highlights and solid bleaching, then it's the same stuff. They recommend you go to a hairdresser because if you don't know what you're doing, you could burn your scalp, turn your hair orange or just make it fall out.
After watching my friend ';try out'; so many ways of changing her hair colour with one hell of a lot of cock-ups I have gathered information off various friends who are hair technicians and hairdressers, etc.

They say that hydrogen peroxide is the only thing that can reliably bleach your hair and you won't find that in any of the boxed sets on the shelf - you're more likely to see it on shelves in an ugly bottle with just Hydrogen Peroxide on it - its usually towards the bottom shelf and is dirt cheap, people are probably put off a little thinking that it's cheap and nasty and it can be - it is this bog standard product, not the ones with the trilly bits addeds that is used in salons, however it is becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of as recent legislation has led to it, supposedly, being taken off supermarket shelves due to the fact that it is an ingredient that can be used in the manufacture of bombs!?!

The reason people advise others to go to a salon is they know exactly what they are doing and know how long to leave product on for the best effect, know where to put it for the best effects depending on hair type, length etc.

If you want to bleach your hair hydrogen peroxide is going to do the trick - it will literally burn the natural colour/pigment from your hair and leave it virtually white! People with fine hair could end up with their ends frazzling off!

If you want to colour your hair a lighter colour then obviously the box sets are the way to go - but in my friend's experience this is where all the problems occur!

    Good luck!
They use higher quality chemicals and they are trained to do things to peoples hair.....why go to them? They're called Professional for a reason
Yes it's different and hairdressers train for 2 years minimum so they should know what there doing, most people that diy there hair with bleach send it yellow
