Why do nail salons have to drill your nail before putting on acrylics?

i don't think i am going to get my nails done anymore b/c it hurts too much! Why do nail salons have to drill your nail before putting on acrylics?
Nail services of any kind should never, ever hurt, or cause discomfort. The truth is that your natural nails do not have to be 'drilled' or roughed up before applying the acrylic. The idea is to help remove the shine from your nail, not take off several layers of it, or cut deeply into your nails. A good tech can and will do your nails, without any pain. It sounds to me as though you went to a discount salon - one that they charge like $25 or less for a full set though I could be wrong. If you did go to one of these salons, my advice is don't return to them. Instead find a reputable nail technician with lots of experience and training. It will cost you more, but the results are well worth the extra money spent. But seriously. Always avoid the discount salons. These people generally don't know how to do nails, and will almost always mess up your natural nails each time you go to one. They aren't very good techs at all.Why do nail salons have to drill your nail before putting on acrylics?
For one thing they don't have to ';drill'; your nail they can use an emery board of some kind. Some places use a drill because it is faster but it can go too deep that is why the pain. The reason this is needed before acrylics is because it helps the product cling to your nail if the shiny top layer is off. That is all they are supposed to do is take the top layer off. If they went further than that ';do not go back';!!!!
They have to fle them so that they arn't so smooth. Its hard to stick a nail to a smooth nail
You mean rough your nails up?...It helps the acrylics stay on..If it bothers you, ask if they can use a file, instead..
